Well...school's back and jammin'. My classes are good but hard this semester (looks like I'm going to have to study....) and I have friends in all my classes. World History is impossible... considering we still have 2000 years to cover .. in roughly 12 weeks. Spanish is actually challenging this year. And I'm super dooper happy I'm not marching this year. I can't belive all the stuff I missed out on last year. (Like... life :)) I love being able to serve more at church and on the SST. I think that's it !

And the SST retreat was awesome. It was very refreshing and thought provoking. High five Dr. Pipe !

And thus starts the stretch untill Christmas that I won't be able to see my brother and sister-in-law. Maybe Rob should actually respond to his email. (hint, hint..)

I love you all.
Elizabeth

And I reccomend this book to all.

So, life

  • My family and I went on our fun trip up north. I must say, its funner having a brother and wife living up there. I don't really have much to say about it, though

  • I went to Fully Alive. There I learned alot. I had some pretty cool roomies- Catherine, Elise, and Amanda. I learned alot from the speakers- especially Brad. I got to know some people alot better. I had some good talks with people. We also did fun things in the afternoon- like mountian climbing, street evangelism, tubing, ropes courses (woo !) and guiding the raft down the nantahala. The rides up and down and all around (sonic !! woo hoo) were all fun as well. If you want to know more than my little "in a nutshell" description, then ask. Cause talking is more fun than typing.
  • Summers been really fun just not having to be some where at some time, and just hanging out with people. Yay !

  • Vbs is this week ! woo hoo ! My crew is fun and easy

  •     I finished LONDON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! heck yes.
Well, 3 more weeks of summer left. And two more summer reading books left  for stupid Honors Brit Lit. Oh well, atleast theres cliff notes But Lord of the Flies is NASTY

Love,
Elizabeth

Peru !!!!!

We're back from Peru ! It was amazing, tosay the least. My relationship with Christ was renewed and strengthend, I met amazing people, saw the amazingness of God's creation, and strengthened many relationships. The Lord taught me so much. To  see the
creation we saw was incredible. This is kinda hard to put in words, so I apologize in advance.

Friday, June 9. We left the church and headed to the airport. There we
ran into some passport difficutlties with Dad and Allie, but the God is
good (all the time ) and all things
worked out. Then we flew for 6 hours to Lima. We got to Lima at about
11:45 and waited in the airport for 6 hours .

We all tried to sleep.

Saturday June 10. We flew from Lima to Cusco. Then we arrived in Cusco
and went to the hotel and rested. Then we went to the Becks' house for
lunch and orientation.

Sunday June 11.

We went to church at "La iglesia Emanuel"  (Emanuel Church), the
church where the Becks have done so much at. Even though we couldn't
understand half of what they were saying in church, I thought it still
rocked. Personally, the worship was one of my favorite aspects of the
trip. And we got to do alot of it.

After the service, we had lunch at the church and then went on a hike down Mt. Yuncypata. It was awesome.

"Mountians bow down, and the seas will roar, at the sound of your name."

" Lord of all creation, of water, earth, and sky."

I just can't get over the marvels of God's creation. Besides being
awestruck at the wonders of the Lord's creation, I met Javier and his
wife on the hike. I spent the majority of the hike talking to them in
spanish .

Javier and Lennie, his wife. Javier and Lennie have been married for
two years. He gave his testimony on several occasions throughout the
trip and is in the process of becoming an elder.

Monday, June 12.

We worked at the construction site, at Emanuel church. There we painted
the walls of the sanctuary and a classroom, and built tables, benches,
and shelves.

Val !

VARNISHING !!!!!!!!!!! YAY !!! wow... yes, varnishing made Kristin's eye twitch, and made us see fun things, but it was still great

Ashley

So after working at the construction site, we went on a prayer walk were we walked through the Becks' neighborhood and prayed for people we knew and saw. Then we went to Club Emanuel, which is the Street Kids club that the Becks' started. It was amazing to see how the Beck family has shown street kids of Cusco Jesus and how it has changed their lives. It was really sad too, because it was the Becks' last time at Club Emanuel, and so everyone was crying.

Tuesday June 13. We went to the construction site, then had lunch at the Becks' house. Then we divided up into groups and did home visits to people who attend Emanuel, but aren't members or very involved. People in Peru don't get offended when you just come over to their house to visit (like in the U.S.) but they welcome you in. We took a taxi ride to the bottom of this mountian, then climbed up it and went to these people's house. Javier gave his testimony, and shared the gospel with the Dad, and then we gave them some stuff and left. Then I almost got hit by a motorcycle, but Matt pushed me out of the way. Then I almost got hit by a car and Matt pushed me out of the way. So, thanks  Matt . Then we went through a cave , up some "termites holding hands" and onto this roof thing and saw some more people.

Wednesday June 14.
We did construction at Emanuel. Then in the afternoon/evening we went to a open-air market and bought stuff.

Thursday June 15.
We woke up at 4:00 am to get on the bus to go to Machu Pichu (sp ?). We rode on a bus for 1.5 hours, then on a train ride that was incredible.

a view from the train

the Urubamba (spell ??) River

okay, then we drove up this road to get to Machu Pichu.

Then we went to Machu Pichu.

You are amazing, God.

Okay, so now xanga won't let me upload any more photos, but let me tell you Machu Pichu has to be on the top 5 most incredible things I've ever been to or seen. The ruins rocked, don't get me wrong, but the mountains were incredible. I have never seen such beauty in my life. One thing that struck me was : How can anyone look at these mountians, or any other increble thing like it, and not realize that there is a creator and that God exists ?

Then, on the way home from Machu Pichu it was incredible. Looking at the stars, I found the little dipper and the big dipper. The song "Indescribeble" stuck in my head.

"You placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name. You are amazing, God !"

Friday we finished work at Emanuel and in the evening had a family night at church that was great.  Valerie, the Royers, and other people gave their testimonies, we worshipped, and then served dinner.

Saturday we flew from Cusco to Lima. Then we toured Lima, saw a cathedrel, some bones, ate at chilis, then flew Lima to Atlanta.

My week was incredible.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
In Christ,
Elizabeth Holmes

El verano !!

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. It's about time. This year has been amazing. I have made some dumb choices, granted, but forgiveness is a wonderful thing. I have learned so much this year, I don't even know where to begin.

Okay, marching band was a ton of fun. I made amazing friends. I learned how to play clarinet () and march. But, the thing is it was so hard with taking honors classes, maintaining other friends, doing your homework , and I missed out on alot ( like life... ). It's also very expensive, and the things that mean the most  to me in life Christ, my family, friends, and youth group were basically put on hold. It was also a ton of money. Thus, I'm not marching again. So there. Quit bugging me. (jk)

Probobly one of the biggest things I learned this year were what my real priorities in life are and time management, thanks to band. Don't let something take over your life completely before you figure out what really is important to you. .

I have made amazing friends this year and had some amazing teachers this year. All in all, Pope rocked.

Mrs. Warren is AWESOME !! She is so great ! I'm really going to miss her . :(

Oh yeah.. good job SENIORS !!!!
And ECCS 8th graders !!

Timmy Jordan and Myself at graduation last night !!!

I love life.
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the LORD, " plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

"God is good, all the time. All the time, God is good. We are blessed, all the time. All the time, we are blessed."

Life is good.

Love in Christ,
Elizabeth
